Glock is the manufacturer of polymer semi-auto hand guns.44 magnum, actually:.44 Remington Magnum, is the designated name and caliber of a specific round of ammunition first produced commercially for the public by Remington.
Glock conversion in 44 Mag? Well, not exactly but very close.
It’s called the 460 Rowland and the conversion fits the Glock 21 and Glock 30.
460 Rowland Ballistics:
Underwood factory ammo – 185 grain at 1,575 fps and 230 grain hollow point at 1,400 fps.
Cor-Bon factory ammo – 185 grain at 1,425 and 230 grain at 1,250 fps
Buffalo Bore ammo – 185 grain at 1,525 fps and 230 grain at 1,350
So what is the 460 Rowland? It’s a stretched 45 acp case. The 460 Rowland case is 1/16″ longer than the 45 acp. The case length was needed not for powder capacity but to insure it is not chambered in a 45 acp barrel. The 460 Rowland generates 40,000 PSI whereas the 45 acp only generates 21,000 PSI. This is how it accomplishes the 44 mag performance.
Factory ammunition for the 460 Rowland is available from Cor-Bon, Underwood and Buffalo Bore. Starline makes brass cases for the 460. It’s easy to reload just like the 45 acp.
There are 2 ways you can convert your Glock 21 or Glock 30 into a 460 Rowland. You can buy the conversion kit from .460 Rowland or buy a conversion barrel, compensator and recoil spring from Lone Wolf Distributing. The cost ranges from $250 – $350.
This is the Rowland 460 Conversion Kit for around $350.
This conversion enables you to hunt big game with the Glock auto pistol. The compensator and recoil spring greatly reduce the recoil. It’s like shooting a 45 acp but with 44 mag performance.
Look for my review in the next couple of months.
I'm putting this out to see if I can get a good offer. I have a VERY nice, low mileage customized Glock 21, gen. 3, that I'm looking to trade for a good double-action .44 magnum revolver. The G21 comes with an extended slide lock, and extended slide stop. It comes with a stainless steel guide rod. It has a 3.5 lb. connector installed, and a full '35 cent trigger job'. There is an XS Express Big Dot night sight on the front, and an Aro-Tech Aro-Site 2 dot Novak-style sight on the rear. The original parts are included. The ill-fitting fingergrooves have been removed, and the trigger guard has been undercut. I have also rounded the sharp edges off of the magazine release button. I have also polished the outside of the barrel chamber as well as the muzzle. The G21 comes with 4 Glock 14 round mags, and 180 rounds of GOOD factory ammo (including 80 rounds of Speer Gold Dot, 50 rounds of Winchester Ranger-T, and 50 rounds of Winchester FMJ.). I am NOT interested in selling, and am only looking for a trade for a .44 magnum revolver...A Ruger Redhawk, with some factory .44 mag. ammo would be perfect.
